King James Version (KJV)
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
As we embark upon one of the greatest seasons of our lives, many believers don’t have all of the physical signs to prove what God has promised us. Those around us may not be able to understand the assurance that we have. Knowing that God is faithful concerning His promises, mature believers do have to have a sign. There is an understanding that faith is our confirmation for the things that have not yet been revealed to the senses, or manifested in the earth realm.
When we choose to live by faith, our days of living defeated lives are over. We stop reading the bible as a novel, but we see it as revelation from God that defines the quality of life that He desires for us to have, lives of abundance, freedom, healing, deliverance, and peace. Therefore, we can resolve that we will not be moved by what we see, or what others may say. We KNOW that any moment our promise will show up.
We have to remember:
1. Faith is not a feeling, but a conscious choice to believe what God has said. We will never progress as long as we stay on the plane of our feelings. Faith chooses, then acts, then the feelings follow.
2. Faith acts even in the face of doubt and opposition.
3. Faith sees what others do not see.
Simply stated, Faith means believing in advance what will only make sense in reverse.
